You will be responsible for providing strategic communication advice to facilitate Council and City directives. As a seasoned, skilled professional, you?re comfortable offering your expert guidance to senior managers and leading a dedicated team of communication specialists. You are able to adapt your approach to address varying work styles in a political atmosphere.
Drawing from a range of communication tools, you will implement and manage a variety of communications projects which will involve:
- Identifying communication needs in order to provide recommendations on: budget use and prioritization, media tools, project timelines and how best to present City information;
- Leading a variety of corporate communications prospects
- Developing department policies and procedures which cover internal and online communications, marketing/advertising and media relations
- Overseeing the strategy, development and ongoing maintenance of the City?s website
- Guiding departments on how to incorporate and maintain consistent usage of our corporate identity
- Building internal and external relationships to help facilitate the dissemination of information to the citizens of Coquitlam and municipal staff
- Providing direction and assistance with writing and approval of news releases, program notices, brochures, posters, direct mail and other materials.
You will also ensure the media has appropriate contacts in the organization. Drawing from your years of experience in providing strategic advice, you will implement the strategy for crisis communications, concentrating on minimizing negative impact and facilitating a smooth recovery.
Your qualifications include a degree in a relevant discipline such as Communications/PR and at least 5 years? experience at a management level, ideally in local government or in a structured corporate or political environment. Your exceptional organizational abilities will help you stay focused on the big picture despite competing priorities and deadlines, assuring those around you that your projects will be completed on-time and on-budget.
We offer a competitive salary of: $118,332 to $127,987 (2011 rates) and an excellent benefits package.?
