You spend a large part of your day at the office, and many of your closest friends may also be colleagues or people you've met through work. At the same time, being intimate with someone you work with offers a number of workplace challenges, the least of which being staying productive or keeping your personal life out of your work life when the person you're seeing is nearby. We want to know: have you ever walked that line? Did it work out for you?
We got to thinking about this when we read a Glassdoor survey that one in ten people have made love in the office. The majority of those respondants (a slim majority, only 51%) said it's normal and okay to be romantically involved with a coworker, and 37% said they'd been personally involved with a coworker themselves. At the same time, over 54% of them noted that office romances always wind up ending in awkwardness at work, which is never a good thing.
What about you? Have you gotten into a romantic relationship (or are you in one?) with someone you work with, or is it a terrible idea destined to end in tears? If so, how do you stay productive and professionally detached? Let us know your thoughts in the discussions below.
