Stetson University seeks a broadly trained Clinical or Counseling Psychologist for a full-time, tenure-track appointment as an assistant or associate professor. Specific strength in a health-related area such as gerontology, health psychology, or neuropsychology would be especially valuable. ? We seek a colleague who will have the capacity to pursue a strong research agenda and to nurture student learning through involvement in that research. Candidates with interest in and potential for program leadership are especially encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology with an active scholarly agenda and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching undergraduates in both general and specialized areas of clinical and counseling psychology.?

RESPONSIBILITIES:

?

The teaching load is three courses per semester.? Primary teaching responsibilities include Theories of Personality, Abnormal Psychology, and Clinical and Counseling Psychology. Other courses will be based on the candidate's expertise, and may include offerings for the University?s requirements in General Education, such as Introduction to Psychology, First Year Seminars, or Junior Seminars. Other responsibilities include advising and departmental and university service.

THE DEPARTMENT:

Psychology is a rapidly growing department within the Social Science Division of the College of Arts and Sciences. We have approximately 220 majors and 70 minors. Our department focuses exclusively on undergraduate education, but many of our students go on to pursue graduate studies, including in Stetson?s graduate Department of Counselor Education, which offers master?s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling.

We offer a solid foundation to students seeking to do graduate work in psychology and those planning graduate or professional education in various other areas--law, medicine, business, etc. ? as well as students who plan to enter the work force upon graduation. This includes an understanding of statistics and research methodology, familiarity with the traditional core areas of psychology and the history of psychology, and engagement in undergraduate research.
